January 2010
To our Players, Players’ Families, Sponsors and Lawrence Township Community:
On behalf of our Board of Directors, I would like to welcome you to another fun and exciting season of the Lawrence Township Boys Basketball League (LTBBL). We thank you for choosing to participate and support our league.
From our humble beginnings of 6 teams over 30 years ago, we have grown to serve over 400 boys per year by providing both recreational and travel basketball leagues. This year we have expanded to add a new league for 9-10th graders.
We also continue to recognize and reward the high achievement of our very own with our LTBBL Scholarship-$2,000 awarded last year to two Lawrence Township High School seniors and former league players (see information in this directory).
On a sad note, our league lost two special people who passed away this past year. Rich Burd who was a current board member, Vice President and longtime coach in our league, and Dan Welsh who was one of our founding board members and longtime coaches. Without great people like Rich and Dan, our league and community would not be as successful. We are dedicating our season to the memory of these great men. We miss both Rich and Dan and pass along our sympathies to their families. Our goal is to have the young men in our league benefit by improving their basketball skills and physical fitness while also learning important life skills such as hard work and teamwork. Most importantly, we take our greatest joy in seeing our league foster a sense of community as many of our past and current participants and their families take away new and lasting friendships with our fellow Lawrence Township Community members.
We are also very grateful to the following:
Our fellow LTBBL board members who volunteer countless hours and energy in organizing and administering our league.
The numerous parents and family members who help as coaches, team parents, scorekeepers and supportive fans.
The MSD of Lawrence Township of which we have a wonderful relationship in allowing us to utilize the school gyms.
Our community businesses partners whose generous sponsorship allows us to more cost effectively run our league.
Each one of you (players and families) for participating in our league!
In order to help our league continue to thrive, please encourage your friends and classmates to join our league next year. As the games begin, let’s enjoy another season and support and cheer the boys in a positive manner!
See you on the courts!
Respectfully yours,
Jeffrey J. Yu
LTBBL President
